Today's task I just completed to avoid doom scrolling was going through a storage tub of CDs to reunite discs and liner notes with jewel cases. They'd originally gone from cases to ProLogic sleeves, then later from sleeves to zip up flip storage cases, so it's a miracle even some were reunited. 🎉

a thing I like about Laserdiscs is that pre 1991 or so, most discs had a lossless prologic matrixed track, so between the 80s and the introduction of DTS-HD and Dolby TrueHD, it was the only lossless surround format (except, ofc, it was three front, one back, which is a sort of absurd arrangement)

I remember the console themed speakers of the time quite well. They always struck me as an odd concept... surely most TVs had speakers? Usually reasonably good ones on CRTs!
I upgraded my AV receiver to one with Dolby ProLogic II support for my GameCube, so never got the appeal of these things. 😅

ProLogic is an upgrade and renaming of Dolby Surround, but it’s a similar system, and PL was released before TNG was broadcast
