1 is okay, 2 is *brutal* in terms of balancing, i have no patience for it. i've never played 3 but it's always considered the black sheep for one reason or another.

PSIV was an incredible game to play. Many times I wondered where the story could go, and if it was going to end there. It just kept going and never let up. That wasn't exhausting either; the pacing was incredibly amazing. There are games I love with parts I find dull, and it is not one of them.

PSIV is one of the games that made me a lifelong RPG devotee. It also got me interested in checking out the wider series, so it holds a special place for me, becoming the first RPG franchise I really got into. I honestly have more nostalgia for Phantasy Star than I do for pre-7 Final Fantasy.

All of that sounds incredibly cool, and because that moment is the single most narratively impactful beat in the series—BOTH PSⅢ and PSⅣ are primarily about dealing with the fallout of that one incident even several millennia later—you'd expect it to feel a certain way. You'd expect it to breathe.

Its a good example of PSIV storytelling through mechanics because its where you get a considerable amount of your early cash so it clues you in that Alys and Chaz are constantly broke
