Wildwood was truly an amazing experience and a technical marvel. I just cannot wrap my head around how they made this movie with stop-motion animation. It’s a shame nobody is going to see it. I had no idea that the singer from The Decemberists wrote the book it is based on!

If you answered no, then please continue reading. If you answered yes, then put down this book and go back to 2012 and 2013. That was when a cable tv network decided that broadcasting a teasing, hour-long pseudodocumentary on these mythical marine animals (2012), followed by a sequel (2013), had priority over producing and airing real documentaries on real marine animals. To add insult and salt-laden ocean water to injury, both programs got great ratings. As one might imagine, marine biologists were livid and took action. With a minimum of regard for decorum, these so-called trained and educated scientists wrote outraged tweets and indignant blog posts and otherwise took umbrage in a most uncivil way." This animal’s lineage is more ancient than those of dinosaurs, reptiles, or amphibians, with its oldest fossils dating from about 450 million years ago. It is also the largest living marine invertebrate animal you are likely to see on beaches of the U.S. East and Gulf Coasts. Like Aquaman (but far more erogenous), this animal lives in the ocean but can also walk on land for hours. At the start of summer each year, if you see it crawling around on a beach, it’s because of sex. From May through June this species begins its massive orgies on beaches from the Gulf of Mexico to Maine. During these debauches, much larger females are approached by many smaller males that shove and jostle one another on their way to fertilizing. Pictures of this gamete-laden frenzy somehow make it past prudish censors of social-media sites every year, titillating prurient invertebrate enthusiasts everywhere..."
