“Evidence of Us” is not the first installation I’ve seen to consider what sort of archaeological and pseudofossil record we leave, but I am glad to see more of this consideration. What choices are ephemeral. What choices stay and will be recontextualized.

I'm like 90% certain this is a dendrite! Real old, but actaully a mineral formation (probably manganese on limestone) that is often called a pseudofossil because it looks so much like a fossil fern.

And yet the resemblance is uncannily close! It took very detailed work and sophisticated reconstruction to figure out what they were actually looking at!
(Incidentally, the revision from fossil to pseudofossil also involved some longstanding feuding...which is kinda typical of Precambrian paleo.)

i did yes, there’s a continuum from kinneyia” through pustules like “Beltanelliformis minute” (yes my taxon unfortunately a pseudofossil) to more linear structures that join to form “Arumberia”. it’s a tangly mess for sure
