#Ediacaran
This #FossilFriday i’m out enjoying the cool digging weather at #InnerMeadow & came across this beautiful little #Ediacaran #Arborea spinosa. The species used to belong to #Charniodiscus spinosus prior to our realization that Charniodiscus has a conical frond whereas Arborea are flat. You can read..

The Ediacaran was an odd sort of time! (Which I like. ^_^)

(Although I must admit that I do get some of those oldest periods mixed up, and did have to go and correct myself on which period the Ediacaran was. ^^; )

Animal evolutionary rates peak in the late Ediacaran and earliest Cambrian, then fall (Guo et al., Science Advances). The ecology we credit for the Cambrian explosion shows up after the traits it's supposed to explain. Donoghue's read: earlier and less explosive than the name says.

Happy #FossilFriday!

This week brought to you by #Fractofusus andersoni from #Innermeadow and my interpretive digital sculpt of the same 🐠.

What could be spookier than the ghosts of an #Ediacaran 551 Ma seafloor?! 👻 So happy halloween too 🎃!

Yeah!! :D I really like how strange it was (I saw something on how the atmosphere was very different so the colour of the sky/sea mightve been different too!)

Oh yeah for sure, there are a lot of time periods with a lot going on!! I remember the Ediacaran cause of trying to find info on it xD

We find that most of the ‘action’ in terms of accelerated rates of molecular and morphological evolution, occurred in the Ediacaran to early Cambrian. We call for a more nuanced few of early animal evolution since it was not confined to the Cambrian and not obviously very explosive

Hell, the earth itself has had and STILL has species that blur the boundaries between our defined kingdoms of classificatoon. Some even knock those boundaries down!

*looks at that quilted venation pattern* i'm sorry, that is an ediacaran biont somehow re-emerging in the post Cambrian eon
Today I saw one of the weirdest and coolest sea slugs I've ever seen and it was in New Hampshire. This is Elysia chlorotica, a slug that eats algae and steals its chloroplasts to use for photosynthesis. Yes, this slug is solar powered!
