Besides the long bois there are theropods, ornthishians, synapsids, pseudosuchians, fish and at least one really fucking huge temnospondyl!

Sonselasuchus was one of several species of Shuvosaurid pseudosuchians that lived during the Late Triassic. This small animal was part of a large radiation of crocodile relatives that went onto many niches that will be eventually occupied by dinosaurs later in the Jurassic

i keep forgetting that phytosaurs are pseudosuchians which is so ridiculous because what else would you call this

Exploring the cranial morphology and possible convergences of Triassic non‐crocodylomorph pseudosuchians (Archosauria: Pseudosuchia) with other sauropsids through linear morphometrics - Terras - The Anatomical Record - Wiley Online Library anatomypubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/...
Exploring the cranial morphology and possible convergences of Triassic non‐crocodylomorph pseudosuchians (Archosauria: Pseudosuchia) with other sauropsids through linear morphometrics
Triassic pseudosuchians had highly diversified cranial morphologies. These archosaurs occupied diverse ecological roles, ranging from terrestrial predators and herbivores to semiaquatic ambush predat....

Gonna start attributing all paleontology myths to khive, can’t believe khive thinks that dinosaurs outcompeted pseudosuchians in the mid triassic
Wait does khive reject the Bering hypothesis now

Postosuchus.
I feel like the head is a bit too Tyrannosaurus. I should draw Pseudosuchians more.

Interesting moment where the trailer seems to feature what looks to be a pair of pseudosuchians? tho I can't quite put my finger on what type specifically

given the theropods something more late Cretaceous seems plausible, so perhaps they are meant to be baurusuchids?

Why is my book taking so long to finish? Well, one of many reasons are Aetosaurs! They are very complicated to reconstruct AND my book has a lot of them! 😅 But Aetosaurs are awesome!

Aetosaurs are pseudosuchians, and thus related to modern crocodilians

a very warm welcome to sonselasuchus cedrus, a shuvosaurid from the chinle formation described by smith and sidor 🐊 sonselasuchus is known from a bonebed of mostly immature individuals, totalling at least 36 in number

analysis of the limb proportions of various specimens suggests that - similar to bipedal sauropodomorphs, and possibly other bipedal pseudosuchians - sonselasuchus began life as a quadruped, switching to bipedal locomotion as it matured

i love you Pseudosuchia. I can't wait until they come out with more Pseudosuchians I'm really excited for them

Ctenosauriscidae only has 3 "decent" species (with more than a few chunks of bones), but the enigma they present as really derived pseudosuchians (under Poposauroidea), yet chronollogically being the oldest archosaurs (eeaaarly triassic) its really annoying lmao. #paleoart

update: a new paper analysing the osteohistology of non-crocodylomorph pseudosuchians from triassic south america indicates that the holotype specimen of sillosuchus longicervix was mature or near-mature when it died, opening the possibility that the giant material belongs to a separate taxon
"fasolasuchus ain't got shit on me", says sillosuchus, a herbivorous, bipedal poposauroid from the carnian of argentina. while the holotype is already larger than related shuvosaurids, a referred specimen suggests a maximum size of at least 11 metres

2024 is coming to a close so how about we take a brief look back at all the new Pseudosuchians that were published on this year. It's something I've done these past two years on Tumblr already and thought I might as well take a short version of it to Bluesky.

They are thought to be recent migrants from Kairul, perhaps carried on vegetation by ocean currents cycling from Kairul's west coast to the known world. Though a durophagous otter, pseudosuchians, and many rays & fish compete with them, the sheri thrives in the Seridic wetlands.

pseudosuchians are so retrosaur coded
