The Python Software Foundation (PSF) is excited to announce our newest staff member and Infrastructure Engineer, Joshua Mcshannon, reporting to Director of Engineering Jacob Coffee. Joshua brings over 16 years of technical expertise from various backgrounds including bootstrapped startups and big tech. Most recently he built an AI-integrated learning platform for cybersecurity students and taught secure web application development along with DevOps/platform engineering. Joshua will focus on reducing operational complexity and toil of the PSF infrastructure, optimizing to better serve the community at large and internal PSF platforms that CPython core developers and staff members rely on daily; this includes services like python.org, PyPI, and infrastructure behind PyCon US. With Joshua on the team, the PSF will gain much needed redundancy for on-call rotations as well as capacity for new infrastructure projects. **_“We put people on the moon with a Ti-82, I’m sure we can figure something out.”_** Joshua has already shown great initiative in the work that the PSF has, diving deep into our Kubernetes infrastructure and preparing improvements to keep costs low.
