#public-services
Can someone help us get this message to Andy Burnham?

Labour voters want public ownership, not public control - it is time to deliver it

🎊🎉Congrats to @metromayorsteve.bsky.social for delivering public control of buses for Liverpool

This will stop private operators from charging extortionate fares and cutting services

To end profiteering and run buses fully in the public interest, we must move to public ownership

As a member of the public, I support striking workers today. Public sector workers are woefully undervalued, and I thought we learned that lesson during the COVID lockdowns, but apparently we need a reminder. I want workers to be paid fairly for the valuable services they provide. Yup the unions!

Running down services through underfunding and bad mismanagement is really unfair on the public.

I am the public. I support the workers. I am already waiting 5 years and more for appointments so another day won't matter to me.

-A public promotion of some product or service.
-The business of drawing public attention to goods and services.

Arguably this surfaces a dystopic current reality, whereby those most in need of public services are most likely to be excluded by the friction employed by individual services to 'manage demand'? Those vulnerable people with their unmet needs don't disappear... cue displacement demand redux.

He accused the government of Prime Minister Rumen Radev of covering up the incident and called on the security services and the Ministry of Internal Affairs to inform the public whether they knew about the arson of the antennas.

A properly nationalised, joined-up water and energy system, with the public interest its goal, could construct reservoirs that both serve as water sources and as energy storage.

— #Renationalise UK public services
— Prosecute corrupt water & energy company execs & regulators
Towns in England at risk of running out of water until 2027.

Over one trillion litres of water a year lost to leaks.

No new reservoirs since privatisation. Record customer bills. Polluted rivers.

No national planning. No national grid.

Crisis deepened by privatisation.

I work for a public institution which has farmed out every service it can to private corporations' janky products. It makes our work worse and harder and less humane. Making those services part of the public institution again would (a) make so many public jobs and (b) make my life so much better
One of the projects of the post-Trump era should be de-privatization, something long overdue since the Reagan revolution. Bob Kuttner makes a list of reclaiming the public commons.

But, unlike Walmart, many municipalities are pushing back against their attempts to bankrupt taxi services and public transportation by layering on fees and forcing them to charge their true cost, so I doubt it will succeed.

I know in Chicago that normal, daytime rides are now like $50 crosstown.

Good to see this from Sam, so many gov strategies assume AI will be wholly beneficial & used in ways controlled by public services. But these AI tools are in the hands of the public & will be used in unanticipated ways.

Not nefarious, often excercising the social contract but the friction has gone!
New post:

"Drowning in slop"

Large parts of the state are being increasingly overwhelmed with complaints, appeals, objections.... written by AI. It's gumming up every process. Britain is particularly vulnerable.

How bad has it got and what can we do about it?

The private Catholic schools have a lot to answer for. IPA John Roskham employed, political interference, Opus Dai teachings… As revealed in recent NSW ICAC public hearings.

The big question now is public services concentrating public money to a handful of so called church and charitable orgs.
