Another wildlife sighting on a VERY warm Spring day. My cat was vaguely interested in the puffadder strolling past her in driveway. I only managed a pic of its tail disappearing into bush.
This freaks me out.

That is indeed a hair raising experience!
I was pulled from a river before rolling over a falls as a child.
I was drowning in a pool as a small child and was pulled out.
I stepped on a puffadder with thongs on while playing hide and go seek at 9.
Yes, life is an adventure!

Thinking about naga biology and the somewhat cursed idea that due to his immense size Kwang might move like a puff adder, making it look like he's using his ribs as catepillar legs (it's not though, it's by using two opposing muscles on every rib according to wiki)

Small, well-camouflaged and often overlooked, the puffadder shyshark is a reminder that some of our most fascinating marine species are also the easiest to miss.

Despite the name, puffadder shysharks aren't named because they're dangerous. Their bold markings resemble those of the puff adder snake, which is how they got their common name. By day, their camouflage helps them disappear into the reef, making them surprisingly easy to overlook.

🦈 Shark Sunday 🦈

Hiding among the rocky reefs and kelp forests of our coastline is this week's shark: the puffadder shyshark (𝘏𝘢𝘱𝘭𝘰𝘣𝘭𝘦𝘱𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘶𝘴 𝘦𝘥𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘴𝘪𝘪).

Fun fact: Captive puff adders have never evolved to stop eating when full. They have been known to overeat to the point of regurgitation.

Puffadder sort of thing. The only snake I really do not like. Other noodles, spicy and benign, are fine.

Just before my usual walk today, my dad made a comment about keeping an eye out, because it's "puffadder season". Not a big fan of living somewhere with a puffadder season now 😬

One of my recent favorite lil guys is the Puffadder Shyshark 💜 when they feel threatened, they curl up into a little circle and cover their eyes with its tail

I was looking for rare flowers in Table Mountain National Park (Cape Town) this morn when I heard a puffing hiss a few ft away. This large 80cm/30in Puffadder was displeased with my presence! Would have struck if I’d got closer but when it realized I was no danger it took off. Amazing beast! #snake
