As young tufted puffins, pufflings start out with darker feathers and beaks than the bright colors adults are known for, helping them stay camouflaged and safe as they grow. 🧡

This summer we welcomed two hatchlings to our tufted puffin colony. Our aviculturists chose the name Nori, like the type of seaweed used in sushi, for the older puffling.
🐣 Meet Kiwi! This tufted puffin chick was hatched on July 11, and is part of the Species Survival Program. The goal is to protect the health and genetic diversity of select species, making Kiwi a puffling to celebrate.
