Holy shit we got him back! Pyxis is safe and unharmed.
Losing a pet is the fucking worst. Don’t know how I’m going to get anything done this week.

A wonderful horse pyxis, a Greek container distinguished by miniature horse figures on its lid.
The horses often served as decorative handles and, likely signalled prestige because keeping horses was expensive.
Dating 750-725 BC, on display at Altes Museum, Berlin

This beautifully detailed silver and gilt pyxis (lidded box) was probably made in a Greek workshop in Apulia, eventually deposited in an #Etruscan tomb. How do we know? It’s inscribed with the Etruscan word ‘śuthina’ (‘for the tomb’), marking it as the property of the deceased. 🏺 1/

![Silver and gilt pyxis (box with lid), part of a group of three items known as the Bolsena silver. The bands of ornament on the box and alternate leaves on the pointed lid have gilding. The inscription written on the side of the cylindrical box in Etruscan must have been added subsequently. It reads śuthina, meaning "of [for] the tomb" suggesting that the objects were acquired by an Etruscan and buried with him.
The pyxis itself was originally manufactured as a luxury item in Apulia (southern Italy), likely in a Greek workshop. Marking an item as śuthina served a religious function in Etruscan burial practices. It legally and spiritually designated the luxury object as property of the deceased and the underworld deities. Once marked "for the tomb," the item was consecrated and could never be reused or stolen for the world of the living.
Height: with cover 3 5/16 in. (8.4 cm)
Apulian, possibly Tarentine, early 3rd c. BCE, Met Museum (03.24.6)](https://cdn.bsky.app/img/feed_thumbnail/plain/did:plc:4gvknr7shvnikz4ymbtf7wye/bafkreiexikki45tndpnkqzmuho7upuipfuz2tpsaisahsflgje2etyc4ue)

Here's an object not unlike a super bowl: I present this 6th-century pyxis with scenes from the infancy of Christ, derived from biblical #apocrypha.

Magical researchers have yet to find any real practical applications for Sex Magic That Transforms Your Partner Into A Plushie When You Cum, but practicality isn't really a concern for Muffin and Pyxis here. It's simply cool and fun :)

A Corinthian delight: three examples of ancient caricatures. The pyxis at the top shows a child-like Herakles drawing water from a fountain. On the lower left, a kylix depicting a woman playing the usually all-male drinking game kottabos. On the lower right, Artemis and her curious dog. 🏺 1/
