On #R4Today's Trump news...

IBM was founded in 1911, which, according to #R4Today's business reporter is "many, many, many decades" ago.

I briefly checked my Bluesky feed @ 03.30.

It was full of clips of Trump being extremely racist, lying about the success of his economy, accusing others of the very corruption he has been guilty of etc.

So it's amazing that #r4today's main take is to report that Trump says he's winning.

Also, minor point in the grand scheme of how poor #r4today's coverage currently is, the main country of origin for small boats, as in supply of the boats themselves, is China not Turkey. Turkey tends to be a transit point, due to shipping, not the point of manufacture.

Anthropic "tried" to stop its software being used in autonomous weapons.

#R4Today's BAE man says automomous weapons are necessary.

I've seen reports of Ukrainian drones trained to recognise Russian vehicles and attack them.

Ethics is riding a bike, a long way behind the new "necessity".

Why is Justin telling Zack Polanski, a Jewish man, how to feel about Israel’s genocide in Gaza?

It’s actually anti-semitic to conflate Jews with Israel. It was refreshing to hear a party leader bring some much-needed nuance to a conversation with one of #r4today’s most consistently biased voices.

R4Today’s boosterish piece on AI music has it “imagining” a reggae version of Coldplay’s ‘Yellow’ and a metal ‘Running Up That Hill’ as evidence of amazingness.

Just banal ideas that any covers band could have. The notion of AI annihilating creativity and jobs is not explored. Now, In Our Time…

If asylum seekers don't have the money to pay their own travel costs - by government policy - they need other help.

And the £600 taxi fare was - according to #r4today's own report - for a man who had a consultant appointment at the other end of the country after being moved by the Home Office.

At least #r4today's discussion of the depressing CO2 emissions figures for 2024 wasn't following immediately by a cheery "Where are you planning your next holiday?" item as it was on the World Service.

No less shocking than Kuenssberg never citing a named source in her sixth-form essays, or #PoliticsLive stacking panels with Reform no-marks, or #r4today's presenters writing for the Spectator & Mail, or Mason covering Rayner's financial errors with hysterical vigour while ignoring Farage's crimes.

From what I have read of the Supreme Court judgement, #r4today's coverage is misleading and highly interpretative. Considering its presenters' anti-trans record it impossible to trust that coverage

Much more time in the morning now to do something more worthwhile than shouting at #r4today's client journalists.

Now, of course, we have #r4today's usual glowing celebration of #Reform. *switches off radio*

The Malkinson case is one of #r4today's campaigns. They will surely pick up on this.

I love Auntie Beeb but #R4Today's extensive coverage of the BBC's Gaza doc tipped into omphaloskepsis this morning.

Got to be fair, and I’m certainly no fan of R4Today’s Nick Robinson, but he was quite firm with Badenoch this morning. Then again, she is an easy target. TF that she isn’t our PM.

#r4today's American crime news slot this morning concerned a plea deal for the suppliers of drugs to a TV actor.

It did not mention the apparently illegal release of an Israeli official caught in a child sex sting.
Paul’s right, it’s unreal how little traction this story has gotten.

Oh, accidentally listening to #r4today’s Robinson, Webb and Rajan sing the praises of #RodLiddle.

Again with the ‘he said lots of awful things but he didn’t mean it, he was a lovely chap’.

Also, the ‘great writer’ defence.

Eurgh.

Most of #R4Today's audience are not on this feed.

Nobody, not even Cat Smith, let alone Nick Robinson, questioned his argument, which was good debating society stuff.

#R4Today's theme for 2026 and beyond

Might it be just a little bit scientific?
December 31, 2025 at 3:30 PM
I turned off ALL #BBCRadio4 back in 2013, for #R4Today's repeated pitching right-wing lobbyists against scientists (on science); for "both-sidesing" the bleedin' obvious; and promoting demonstrably false narratives + doubt over the categorically undeniable.

Robinson is the latest in a long line.

This man regularly appears on R4Today's Thought for the Day. He is introduced as a "Catholic thinker".
