I’m treating myself to a reread of @marthawells.com’s exquisite Books of the Raksura, and am once again obsessed with how it would make an incredible an animated series.

My 93 year old neighbor is current on MURDERBOT, reading one of the Raksura books, and has WITCH KING on order at the library. She is delighted by this introduction to a new genre for her. @marthawells.bsky.social

The highlight of my yesterday as a public librarian was telling a patron that, sorry, Fourth Wing is checked out, but have you heard of these other shapeshifting hotties from @marthawells.com called Raksura? Also, let me tell you about our lord and savior Murderbot...

I miss the kind of fantasy books I have been reading in the late 90s. They were suitable for teens but they weren't "teen fantasy". And there was some romance but it was never the main (or even secondary) plot.
And now I've read 3 books of the Raksura series by Martha Wells and yes! Just like that!

Ever read a book or series that makes you want to call in sick to work so you can stay home and keep reading? I'm feeling that way right now about the Books of the Raksura series by Martha Wells.

I didn't realize I desperately wanted more "feral murder princess, but also he's a dragon and has to deal with politics" protagonists in my life until the Raksura books came along.

Okay I saw a post about how gushing about books you love is a good and honorable thing to do and I just finished reading a new to me series and I LOVED it so now I gotta gush about it.

In short: the Raksura series by @marthawells.com is fantastic and I can't wait to read it again.

i had my appetite for "unambitious gender-nonconforming guy is abruptly obligated to outmaneuver rivals for the role of prince consort to a dominant female love interest" whetted by Martha Wells' Books of the Raksura and i will not rest until either I've found an example or I've written one myself

I’ve been a fan since early Raksura days; The Cloud Roads was a revelation.

Thank you for persisting.

I will follow in @legalminimum.bsky.social ‘s footsteps and piggyback off this as well. I read a lot of fantasy and science fiction, and if you like a series with rich worldbuilding, good characters, and satisfying narrative arcs, allow me to recommend the Raksura series by @marthawells.bsky.social.
A conversation on our Discord has prompted me to say again: remember, y'all, what really sells books is not the author talking about their work, but *readers* talking about it. Word of mouth drives far more sales than advertising or any other engine. So if you loved a book, tell your friends!

@marthawells.com has written stunningly original fantasy novels like her Ile-Rien series, Books of the Raksura, Witch King, and the Murderbot Diaries which has the most relatable reluctant killing machine protagonist who just wants to watch their shows I’ve ever read.

Yes! Read all the Raksura books multiple times.
