“Yapay zekâ ve algoritmalar sınıflara hızla giriyor. Teknoloji öğrenmeyi kolaylaştırabilir; ama merakın, diyaloğun ve insanı gerçekten dinlemenin yerini tutamaz. Eğitimin özü, ekrana bakmak değil; insani bir karşılaşmadır.”

21. Homegoing - Yaa Gyasi: Two hundred and fifty years of Ghanaian history told by tracing the lives of one family line via the trans-Atlantic slave slade. Read it in a day. Highlight of the year so far.

15. How We Survived Communism and Even Laughed - Slavenka Drakulić: A book that very much does what it says on the tin. Makes you realise how much Soviet communism and late stage capitalism have in common. I'm sure it's just a conincidence.

8. El trueno entre las hojas - Augusto Roa Bastos: Shoirt stories. Tough, due to being written in Paraguayan Spanish, which includes a lot of indigenous words mixed in. Think I got most of it but definitely need a break before attempting the novel of his I have to read.

4. La mujer habitada - Gioconda Belli: Second Belli novel as #readingtheworld returns to #nicaragua. Set in 1970s during the final years of miltary dictatorship with bits of magical realism thrown in for good meausre. My Spanish is still very much a work in progress, but I enjoyed this one.

2. Let the Right One In - John Ajvide Lindqvist: Was on a bit of a vampire kick last year and it's continued into the new year (more to come). Also counts as a 3rd #readingtheworld author for #sweden. Need to watch the film. I imagine there will be a lot they cut. Or perhaps not. Good book.

Reading Thread 2025. Slow start as I try to finish about half a dozen books.
1. Search Sweet Country - Kojo Laing: First Reading the World book of the year with a trip to Ghana 1975. One of those books where every chapter focuses on a different character that coalesce into one.
