In my substack post from late September I mentioned Hezbollah as one of key destabilizators in current Syria. The Lebanese group has been working hard to disrupt security, conducted sectarian bombings and tried to attack Israel from Syria to make Tel-Aviv go to war with Damascus.

I recall being told in December 2024 by a mid-level USG official that Israel would make comprehensive deals with the Palestinian Authority, Syria, Lebanon and normalize relations with Saudi by the end of 2025 under Trump.
