Learning how to regrip a tennis racket for cosplay
I bought a vice and a bunch of specialized equipment so that I can regrip my own golf clubs.
Once again it is Father’s Day, which means it’s time to share the most Dad* thing you did in the last year. As is custom, I will go first:

Using an action to regrip a 2-handed weapon is one of those complaints I see a lot around #pathfinder2e, but there's a very overlooked reason this rule exists:
If it didn't, you would be able to make Athletics checks like shoves and trips far easier, which would make 1-handed weapons less useful. 🧵

I'd rebut it's not as unnoticed as it is in 5e. The systems are intricately connected and tuned when it comes to seemingly finicky mechanics (strength becomes much less valuable if you handwave encumbrance, 2-hand and dual wield builds become way better if you ignore regrip and hand economy, etc)...

If you could regrip a 2-handed weapon instantly, you would be able to just shove, trip, grapple, draw and use a consumable, etc. the same as 1-hander, but using a weapon that has a higher power budget. There would be no point to using a 1-hander, let alone 2-handers with traits like shove and trip.

Like if I point out regrip rules for 2h weapons exist to not let people just make easy Athletics actions that can invalidate 1h builds, or how having 1-action draw and consume lets you buff better than a spellcaster, and the answer is 'so what?', we have entirely different litmuses we've valuing by.

So this is what it looks like when you miss the load on the start, but just kind of.
Yin goes to get on the sled and misses the handle, that causes him to have to fall off to the side farther than he would to regrip, and that causes his knee to bounce off the ice.
Not the worst, but not ideal.

Second, if the game were to start enabling more free-cost opportunities, this would escalate without consideration as to how they interact.
First it’s free form swapping for CWs, then it’s removing regrip costs for two-handers, then it’s reducing the cost of drinking a potion down to one action…

Ive learned to regrip my clubs this year. It’s really easy once you have a few items. I also managed for find a really cheap price on DtiTac grips and bought 40 of them so I can regrip clubs individually as the grips wear out.
