All Japanese hospitals are required to operate as non-profit entities. All surplus funds are reinvested into operations, infrastructure, or services—not distributed as profit.

Medical fees are strictly regulated by the Japanese government to maintain affordability and prevent profit-driven pricing.

Key:

Several Musk controlled assets are critical infrastructure that shouldn’t be private (or at least heavily regulated):

- starlink
- SpaceX
- Tesla charging network
- (x)Twitter

One thing I feel like everyone needs to understand: those social-democratic Scandinavian nations we're all jealous of? Their market economies are *less regulated* than ours. More free. It's just that they collect a lot of taxes on the back end & fund social services & infrastructure.
I’m sorry 😞

The US needs an overhaul. Socialism should not be an evil word.

Good things are possible but for once the US needs to look to other countries as an example. I hope you get a leader that can inspire the populace to care for each other.

The BEST government is regulated private business with some socialism (schools & infrastructure). That leads to wealth creation and a cared for population that has its basic needs met. Communism is all bad. Fascism is all bad.

See also: better infrastructure to allow for active movement, reducing outdoorair pollution, reducing indoor air pollution, removing pfas from water supplies, improved disease surveillance including bird flu, better Healthcare access, and better regulated supplements
Spoiler alert: if any health organization or, say, member of the Kennedy family tells you they’re here to stop chronic health issues and does not mention masking, covid vaccination, or avoiding illnesses that cause chronic conditions, they are entirely full of shit.

This electric dirt bike industry needs to be strongly regulated before their issues unjustly spill over into the public's perception of ebikes. Kids have no business using these things on public infrastructure.
Electric dirt bikes look like fun but they are not permitted on Calgary pathways. With no enforcement they’ve become a more common sight.

I truly hope history *will* remember all this, and the bipartisan nature of imperialist genocide support & denial from the US, instead of it all being forgotten because it was recorded on highly insecure, fragile tech infrastructure owned by poorly regulated corpofascists.

Companies marketing overpowered vehicles for racetracks are selling them to drivers unfit for public roads, causing daily death and destruction.

These products have no place on shared infrastructure and should be regulated out of marketplace existence.

Mexico is putting $1.15 billion into cleaning up 3 of its most polluted rivers: the Atoyac, the Tula and the Lerma-Santiago. Alongside treatment plants & sewer collectors, this has reforested thousands of hectares & regulated hundreds of industrial discharge points buff.ly/lekTZxR

Yes. The key issue is that social media should be regulated as essential public infrastructure rather than driven solely by shareholder value maximisation (which underpins a lot of the damaging algorithmic structuring) or by the whims of mad, racist oligarchs. All this is lost in the ban discourse.
Think this is right. I was initially supportive of a teen social media ban, until in my previous role I had to do a piece of work analysing how the ban is working in Australia. Consensus is broadly that it isn’t: the majority of u-16s who were on social media before the ban are still on it. (1/3)
Got into an argument on Sky a few weeks about about banning social media for teens. "But parents want it!" Sure, but that doesn't mean it will work or is a good idea! How about a serious conversation about what social media is doing to all of us, adults included? Or is that too difficult?

FDR and the Democrats created a government that regulated business, provided a basic social safety net, and promoted infrastructure in the 1930s. 9/17

We need essential infrastructure that is well-regulated and accessible for everyone and not outsourced to these privacy nightmares.

I'd go a step further and just freaking nationalize it.
Common infrastructure everyone needs?
Owned and regulated by the country.
Instead of "profits" going to shareholders, they're invested in improving/updating service.
Long term planning.

Bresnahan, since taking office in January, has made millions trading stocks, mostly from companies regulated by the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, which he serves on. This is more than stock trading. It's insider trading, and it should result in prison for this piece of garbage.

I don’t see how any country can now allow US-regulated providers to supply critical state infrastructure like cloud hosting, utilities, or financial services. They’re too exposed to US government control. Your critical infrastructure could be frozen at any point if you anger the US

Democratic Socialists are in favor of capitalism. They just want it to be regulated and for tax money to be used to invest in human infrastructure.

People keep trying to provoke yet another intra-party conflict over this when in reality the arguments address two very different things.

People want BOTH cheaper housing, infrastructure development, and effective government AND well-regulated corporations. We should provide both.

UiPath is adding unified governance across autonomous agents and robots in regulated enterprises. Control, visibility, audit trails, the infrastructure enterprises need as AI makes decisions at scale.

The peculiar thing about the "back to basics/on track" politicking is that it's harking to an Aotearoa that had universal family benefits, a highly regulated economy, generous state housing, free tertiary education and functioning infrastructure. Only Greens, Labour and Te Pati Māori offer this hope

then it becomes clear how many of these corporations are part of the infrastructure of vicious, superstitious racist hatred and violence and need to be regulated as a threat to human safety
