You have to understand that despite the talk, the White House is run by a bunch of people who deeply despise sincere religiousity.
This is a genuine post by the official account of the White House, whose authenticity I verified.

The religiousity needs to be expunged.

For all their virtuous talk and fiscal responsibility and religiousity and “patriotism”, they have fully abandoned Constitutional America.

Mr Religiousity now???!

One half of Americans have lost any sense of humanity they might have ever possessed, hidden behind a veneer of religiousity...citizens united was the first step in doing us in.

Pretty sure it’s not the religiousity that’s the concern— it’s the religious zealots
i think everyone needs to get a lot less religious

American ISIS aka Talibaptists.
Ostentatious religiousity sans demonstrated morality is precisely what Jesus condemned in the Temple leadership crowd...same shit in current governance.

I love Jasmine too🙁 I like Talarico but his religiousity makes me nervous.
Go Cornyn.

I understand their argument was that religiosity thrives among vulnerable populations facing survival-threatening risks. Their argument for why the US has higher religiousity than other countries - its high levels of inequality and weak welfare state - resulting in far more existential insecurity.

I think you see this a lot in the modern reactionary movement and how the religiousity is I think moreso there as convience rather than a guiding principle that people operate on? Like I think the hierarchical thinking causes the religiousity moreso than the other way around.

So there's a long cultural history that predates the founding, not just of enslavement and indentured servitude and being freaked out by native people, but of blinkered, curdled religiousity, a deep sense of victimhood, and constant prosletyzing of folks minding they own business.

Sound familiar?

the spinoza guy to talking like a youth pastor pipeline isn't supposed to be this quick. you're supposed to spend years grappling with the deranged cult religiousity of your childhood and attempting to distance it with deism before you let the cult win. a few hours is speedrun material
"We all die alone" makes as little sense as "God is dead" to me. You are wrong from every direction.

That said, I thought of a very interesting counterfactual the other day - “if Ferdinand and Isabella never married” because it’s v interesting what flows from that wedding - winning the Castilian civil war that brings her to the throne, for instance. The couple’s religiousity. Conquering Granada.
Hole at the heart of much of counterfactual history is the “if x didn’t do this thing”. Because if x didn’t do it, the conditions are very regularly there for y, z or even q to do it.

Plenty of good writings on kitsch religiousity during the 80-90's Islamist wave in MENA

We need a 1620 Project similar to the 1619 Project, to examine the role religiousity has played in shaping our culture. Freedom, my ass.

from godhead to cockhead: the politics of evangelical homoerotic religiousity.
Three speakers in a row at the Paxton victory party have said “Talarico thinks God is non-binary” to loud booooos from the audience. Lot of enthusiasm for God’s dick up in here.

This is exactly why I combat the "Christmas is pagan" or "Christmas is secular." It always leads to antisemitic supersessionism or normalizing Christian hegemony. It doesn't fight religiousity but in fact supports it

Here’s one of the studies on how religiousity correlates with per capita income in almost every country on the planet except the US (because the US is not one country). news.gallup.com/poll/142727/...
Religiosity Highest in World's Poorest Nations
Religiosity is strongly related to per-capita income worldwide. In the poorest countries Gallup surveyed in 2009, a median of 95% of adults say religion is an important part of their daily lives, comp...

The thing that really strikes me about this is how it is borderline a universal usian transfem experience. Like, I know girls who were raised by athiests and went to public schools who *still* got absolutely fucked up by christian religiousity because we are drenched in it here.
anyway I think Christianity owes me damages for the many years it stole of my life and the sexual trauma it inflicted on me and the way it continues to harm me and the people I love and there should be a reckoning for all the crimes it commits in its various guises. Slay the hydra of Christ, pls

Why are so many addicts religious?

I have noticed that a lot of people in active addiction (still using drugs) are very religious. I tried looking into it, and all I could find were articles about religiousity in recovering/former addicts.

finding the perfect balance between traditional religiousity and progressive/inclusive is annoyingly difficult in institutional judaism
