Just out! Our peer-reviewed critique of the Cass Review has been published by BMC Medical Research Methodology. Please read and share. We show that the Cass Review is fatally flawed and should not be the basis for policy or practice in transgender healthcare.

"Standard research practice in medical research" = "Is this research misconduct"?

None of this research suppresses free speech. All this research advances knowledge & understanding about how science is communicated to the public, how the public learns & thinks about science, & how scientific knowledge is put into practice. 6/

Every treatment used in medical practice, from aspirin to the most complicated chemotherapy regimens, was research at some point.

Without medical research, there would be no medical treatments. Medical research saves lives.

Eclipse photo for #WorldPhotographyDay. This was one of my favorite projects to work on. It took weeks of research and practice, gear prep, and weather tracking. I'm so glad it all came together.

Telling people to “do their own research”- without saying what good research practice and resources are - is not helpful and actively harmful

Doctor: Who am I to tell you what to put in your body?

Patient: A physician, educated for that purpose, licensed to practice medicine, familiar with the empirical research and established best practices.

Doctor: Oh, right. OK. Get your shots.

Ha! This is exactly the kind of "your research output changed our practice" confirmation academics need for REF impact case studies.
This was surreal. I emailed the proton mail of the hacker group that breached the UK airports yesterday and they replied overnight with this...

For the past 11 days (it has only been 11 DAYS), I've been worried that the new guy would think the SPED practice of inclusion (kids with IEPs in the same classroom as their non-disabled peers) was "woke" instead of research-based best practice. (1/x)
The Trump administration is mounting a full-on assault against disabled children and it’s not even subtle.
it's hard to read the chart in the screenshot but what this moron is actually complaining about isn't "DEI" staff, it's special education teachers. these ghouls are coming for people with disabilities and they aren't even shy about it.

Having lost the access necessary for the “journalism,” they have chosen to practice, maybe major outlets could try some actual research and context-based reporting? Maybe?

New to me: "Enact Practice Research Repository, an open-source repository being developed specifically to support practice research, including artistic & creative research that does not always fit within traditional academic repository models."

Thinking of 'orphan outputs' @ruthahnert.bsky.social 🤔
Had a great time presenting a poster about our UKRI/AHRC iDAH projects at #RDA27

Museum Data Service and Enact are at different stages and work with different data, but share many challenges.

Ethically questionable medical research is often accompanied by questionable clinical practice.

Assigned Media has investigated concerns about Riittakertu Kaltialas treatment of patients ⬇️

They quote our latest letter to the editor of Acta Paediatrica about her research.
A Finnish psychiatrist holds increasing influence over youth gender care worldwide. At home, the inpatient mental health facility she oversees has been repeatedly cited for excessive restraints, invading patient privacy, and other acts of neglect and mistreatment of (cis) adolescents).
As a Gender Critic’s Influence Grew, So Did Concerns About Cis Adolescents in Her Care - Assigned Media
Finnish government reports cite neglectful practices in the mental health care of young people at a hospital affiliated with Riittakerttu Kaltiala.
