Everyone wants office-to-residential conversions, but it's hospitals-to-residential conversions that are the big opportunity. We never stopped designing them in such a way that most rooms had a window and some access to plumbing.

You could go a hell of a long way toward fixing capitalism with a law that banned owning any residential real estate you did not yourself live in, and banned owning any commercial/industrial real estate you yourself don't work a job in.
What's a thing you believe that sounds crazy when you summarize it briefly, but when you explain it in depth, it makes complete sense?

So many problems would be fixed if you weren't allowed to own residential real estate unless you lived in it, or own business real estate unless you worked at it.
I sort of say this a lot but in a real way commercial real estate is what “left NIMBYs” think residential real estate is-really long leases locked in, sticky high rents, and extremely strong incentives to keep storefronts vacant if the tenant is less than ideal
