You know, I’m starting to think they want to normalize yearly COVID infections as just another cold or seasonal respiratory virus…

SARS-CoV-2 is not a respiratory virus, anymore than HIV is the flu. It is a vascular disease that masquerades as a respiratory virus when it enters the body. Of course SARS2 kills more people than influenza. People only get influenza ~3 times in their lives, while they get COVID ~every year. 😷

And that means the owner will pay more money up front, but a breeder who is breeding out hip dysplasia, heart conditions, respiratory issues and joint defects? Is worth investing in.

A few extremely good stories here.

1) pugs are seeing a pushback at AKC level so breeding into respiratory failure is not profitable.

2) Hip dysplasia in shepherds is turning the corner.

3) Huge push in Doberman communities to stop docking puppies. A best of breed in England wasn't docked.
I think there are specific breeds which should be bred to an older standard which produces a more resilient animal (bulldogs and pugs, mostly.)

It’s respiratory virus season and it’s already hitting hard!

Getting your seasonal vaccinations is a good way to keep yourself and those around you healthy, and reduce the demand on the health care system. I got mine at the Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy Killarney in Calgary.
