fuckass little wolf extender we made for our wildlife collar so we can wear it fully. diy'd from a leather home depot belt, retroreflector + duct tape and a bit of hardware

Had this idea to photograph up close a transparent retroreflector backlit by my trusty rainbow LED desk lamp. Can’t say I’m disappointed! Looks like some spectral optical lattice. #photography #macrophotography #optics #shotoniphone #refraction

[taps the sign again]

I forgot to include in the list the "retroreflector" for light intensification in their eyes and their lack of receptors for the color red. They don't really see the same red dot you do, but can notice the movement (they're very good at that) if there's enough contrast.
Also, as I’ve reminded people many times before, cat eyes don’t work like human eyes do. Tuned for different wavelengths, different shaped pupils, and different density of receptors on the retina. The laser classifications are for your eyes.

Lasers aren’t toys. Never have been. Not even for pets.

the first cat pictured here helped me search for a bit c:

they also helped me calibrate how to hold my phone flashlight to activate their retroreflector laser eyes at night. it's wild how strikingly bright their eyes light up even when sitting in pitch black shrubbery

We finally have gotten a Next Generation Lunar Retroreflector (NGLR) onto the surface, reasonably far away from the Apollo sites! We use it to reflect lasers from Earth-based observatories to observe how the Moon wobbles because of its interior structure. www.nasa.gov/missions/art...

On Sep 1 astronauts Adenot and Meir carried out spacewalk US EVA 99 from the Quest airlock. They replaced a planar retroreflector antenna on IDA-2, and replaced an EHDC camera at CP3. They also installed some cables, and obtained samples from the ISS exterior

Playing around with some handmade glass beads. Fascinated by cat eye's effect ;) #cateye #katzenauge #retroreflector #handmadeglassbeads

the strat is to hold my phone flashlight directly between my eyes, which, incidentally, also lights up every other retroreflector on bikes and cars which, makes sense!

searching for cats at night is probably easier than during the day. like, their eyes pop out ultra clearly like this:

✅ Retroreflector replaced!

Sophie is heading back to pick up equipment for the next part: a microorganism experiment outside the Space Station. 🦠🔬

Jessica has also completed installation of the new HD camera and is heading back to the airlock to prepare for her next tasks. 🚀👩‍🚀👩‍🚀

Meanwhile, @esa.int astronaut Sophie Adenot is installing a spare planar retroreflector to help visiting spacecraft navigate during future rendezvous and docking operations at the International Space Station.

👀 This view was captured from the Dragon spacecraft Freedom. Can you spot Sophie?

Eh, my cat is my cat and isn't asking to be an internet presence.

But his name is Reed. He showed up as a crucial part of one of my very favorite jokes I've ever done in the retroreflector video.

retroreflector tape is one of the only things that only works because it's not idealized

an idealized capacitor with no resistance, or an idealized ball bearing with no friction, would both be really useful

but an idealized retroreflector would be pitch black because it would reflect your pupils

I mean as much as I prioritise the safety of bikers and peds over driver comfort, they have a bit of a point

The barriers are only about knee height and have limited retroreflector visibility

Luckily its an easy fix to send someone out there and put some retroreflective lane separator poles on top

In this photo we see the Lunar Environment heliospheric X-ray Imager (LEXI), Lunar GNSS Receiver Experiment (LuGRE) and the Next Generation Lunar Retroreflector (NGLR).

We haven’t landed yet but we have already been returning data to assist with our payload’s scientific endeavors 🧪

And retroreflector at known location. You can literally shine on it, just bring your own laser.

Oh boy I love to see the surveying gear. The camera is automatically tracking the pole held by the worker in orange. I wonder what work they're doing, I think the traffic lights were installed relatively recently.

One of our twins had a teacher that was saying to the kids that the moon landings were faked.
When we had a parent teacher interviews I raised it with her and told her she was talking absolute nonsense. Got push back so asked her If she was thick or just ignorant?
Hello Lunar Retroreflector anyone!
