I’m also still pretty garbage at lighting the models but kludged those vaguely presentable screenshots with a 3 point light thing and some obscene rimlight blasting the ass off the model for Drama— I’m sure that’ll get better in time too.

The other witch is Caramine, though similar in name, couldn't be farther than any other similarity to Clementine.

in deadlock I found out they're not doing the rimlight in post process but it does seem that the general principle is the same, using depth buffer information to derive the rimlight.

The result is that areas of higher contrast divide into a lower value (closer to black), creating a contrast mask you can use in a post-process effect to blend your rimlight color over the base image.
I can share the node setup once I have it more finalized! still need to scale based on distance

Yeah that could def work. Keep the rest of the tones pretty blue/cyan and use the blood moon as the contrasting source for the rimlight.

For this, my suggestion wouldn't be to change anything you have, but to make sure you keep the colors high contrast and dark. Like I would use two main values, lit and unlit, and then a rimlight from the moon. Use black trees to fence it in along the sides and top corners.

For a third light source, maybe do a soft bounce light off the water around the calves, but that's entirely a "try it out and see if you like it" situation. Make the rimlight do a lot of the work though to make it pop out of the dark and keep the horror vibe.

Mix of both, the layer weight gives that pure white rimlight and I use colored lights to add more depth
