The Places the River Keeps Secret
Discovering the Underground and In‑Between Worlds of Water This book reveals the parts of a river most people never see. Flowing Through: How the River Holds takes the apprentices beneath the surface, into the hidden architectures that make rivers possible. They learn how aquifers store water in deep stone chambers, how groundwater travels through invisible pathways, and how springs return ancient water to the light.

#geography #riversystems #tectonics #Euphrates
Scientists May Have Discovered the Origins of the Euphrates River, Which Helped Nurture Some of the Earliest Known Civilizations
The famous waterway began as two rivers, a new study suggests. Tectonic activity around five million years ago probably made them change course and merge, helping to birth the Fertile Crescent

This one is so exciting! We knew that the three lakes and the riversystems where used to ship cargo around on the the Swiss Plateau. But know they found a concrete example to tell this story. Absolutely amazing!
