*sighs heavily* I once wrote Riverworld fanfic and included Richard Dawkins in it just because he would be so pissed off about the existence of Riverworld.
TELL BLUESKY ABOUT YOUR FANFIC (that you write or that you love).
Can you do a "tell me about your fanfic" version? 🥺

(Also, did you ever get around to that "feudalism isn't real" article? because I am so goddamn hyped to read it)

RIP Stéphane Picq (1965-2025)

The French video game music composer has worked on the soundtracks of iconic sci-fi games, mainly with Cryo Interactive, including Commander Blood (1994),
Dune (1992), MegaRace (1993), Atlantis (1997), Riverworld (1998)...

Our thoughts are with his loved ones.

in one of the later Riverworld books there is a hilarious confusion where the author explains that Russia has 'millions' of blacks because so many Africans moved to the Caucasus in the 1920s and 30s.
Yes, russians also tend to think about a lot of things in terms of race and ethnicity.

absolutely the funniest confusion I've ever seen about something like this, by the way, is that Philip Jose Farmer got confused over what Russians meant when they said 'blacks' (a derogatory term for people from the Caucasus) and one of the later Riverworld books has a bit about Russia having ...
oh christ, one of these in the wild again.

'antisemitic' is a term *invented in the late 19th century by Jew-haters* as a euphemistic way of framing their Jew hating. it has nothing to do with what people or linguistic groups are 'semitic,' it means hatred of Jews.

Reading about Riverworld and totally baffled, especially at the detail that all men are resurrected without foreskins

Why did you think about that, Philip Jose Farmer

Riverworld (2010)
TMDB score 48%

Welcome to Riverworld, a place of strange, watery beauty and the current abode of a fascinating cast of the recently (and not-so-recently) dead. It certainly isn't Heaven, but it just might be Hell.

The sequels are good if you like that League of Extraordinary Gentlemen/Riverworld metatextual crossover thing.

What are some of your favorite pulp novels? Like Blish's Cities in Flight novels, or Riverworld, or The Destroyer / Executioner / etc, Tarzan, what are your faves?

Got a whole bunch of small press and crowd-funded books yesterday. Let me show you some of them.

These are the new Meteor House books to complement my heart PJF collection.

Random fact: I have reread Burton's Kasîdah A LOT more times than I have reread the Riverworld books.
