I made those sprites originally back in 2016(but I edited them a bit before reposting).
Those two are Dich and Louis, two pirate siblings from a RMXP project called "Tales of Fate" that I was working on with a friend before I started doing pixel art professionally.

The delicious taste of RMXP
I wasn't able to figure out a way to screenshot a map from within RMXP and bring it as a png, so I'm compromising - I've instead just recorded gameplay of me moving around in the map. Every tile on screen is from scratch. The concept, basically, is trying 'What does Neverwinter look like?'

they were, but RMXP had the supports by default for bigger characters, and you could do a lot with the RMXP base. the more compacted chibi style from VX up is hard to animate with.

You know, when I do eventually get back into fangames, I'm beginning to wonder if I should take another crack at romhacks. Creatively, there's more flexibility in what I can do in RMXP fangames, but hacks reach a wider audience. I would have to let go of my lighting effects... Idk, I'm conflicted. 🤔
I forgot I have rpgmaker installed on my non-work pc, and it stares at me, begging to be used. The only thing is, because I have no access to my drawing tools, that means no games with custom assets. Not that you can't make anything good from base assets, but they're boring.

other translation options for the gap between now and Hollowwald in August are The Boy and the Dragon, but that might take a while especially because I've never worked in RMXP before, and the remake of The Princess and the Rose Knight, but... I've got a Reason I never did that one.
