#ruderal
Insect bluesky, I've got a very tired, possible Ruderal bumblebee queen. Other than giving it sugary water should I be doing anything else to maximise its chances?

Corn Parsley Petroselinum segetum seen with #NorfolkFloraGroup this weekend. Abundant in arable and ruderal situations in parts of north Norfolk. Margins and verges thick with it! #Wildflowerhour

Taraxacum trilobatum is a widespread #DandelionOfTheDay Section Taraxacum Group Trilobata (with sheathing petioles) with a trilobate terminal lobe, sigmoid hanging bracts, plentiful teeth and dark-blotched interlobes. The leaves are often spotted too. Ruderal: verges, gardens etc

Some languages conflate these two, but unlike Paliurus, this showy roadside honeylocust (Gleditsia triacanthos, ხეეკალა) is defying its reputation as a ruderal menace by standing alone. 🌱

Cold weather is on the way, so I’m enjoying all these blooming plants for #TheWinter10 while I still can. Found these fresh green plants in a ruderal spot and a nearby park

Some bumblebees join the dark side. Others join the light side–we like to call these Obee-Wan Kenobees🔴🔵

Ruderal bumblebees can have a distinctly different appearance. Some individuals appear dark with little/no colour variation. It is caused by an increase of the dark pigment in the hair, melanin.

Second record of a Ruderal Bumblebee (Bombus ruderatus), aka Large Garden Bumblebee in the garden this year (South Oxon). I'm only confident with the black form, so may have missed other stripey ones.

After 10 years as the Species Champion for the Ruderal bumblebee, Cambridge MP Daniel Zeichner has finally seen one in the wild 🐝🎉

Visiting RSPB Hope Farm with our CEO Dr Andrew Impey, he saw first-hand how nature-friendly farming is helping rare bumblebees to recover.

Our Orchids of Cyprus tour headed inland today, working a circular route that encompassed three sites, and three differing habitat types - phrygana, ruderal terraces, and open woodland. We were richly rewarded with a cornucopia of #orchids, in particular gem-like Ophrys bee orchids.
