I have rarely felt so disconnected from the political moment as when KLB won the Primary outright, no runoff, greater than 50% of the vote. I was sorta glad the state democrats didn't have to beat each other up for several more weeks of runoffs, but who exactly is jazzed about her candidacy?

Phillippe and Melenchon are the two likeliest candidates, according to this same poll (and current conventional wisdom) to make the runoff against her.

Im in 21st place going into the runoffs next sat. Best I’ve ever done. (It wont hold) The front suspension is still a bit off so im corner weighting the car & lord help me i used geometry in real life bc the car must be level.

2/3- They perversely incentivize bad-faith behavior. We regularly have the leading Dem candidate run ads in the primary to boost the leading GOPer, so that the general is a cakewalk for them (instead of having to beat dem opponent). Total opposite of ranked choice/instant runoffs.

That power existed for good reason. Trump is the problem. All we have to do is get rid of the Electoral College and require runoffs until a majority is achieved. That would have eliminated Trump.

Mamdani won because NY had ranked choice runoffs, otherwise Cuomo woulda won on name recognition. Democrats pick centrists by rigging primaries without runoffs or disproportionate runoffs or NO primaries, all to assure defeat and Hitler wins. Only a structural change in the party can work.
