One flavor of sadaqa is called sadaqa-jarriyah—whenever you do something out of charity that will continue to help those long after you die, like planting a fruit tree or building a school. Essentially, any time someone benefits, even after you die, you still get pinged for it…

There is another form a charity in Islam called sadaqa, which is any charity on top of zakat. Essentially, there’s no restrictions—it can be whatever. Essentially, once you die, you’re kind of locked in to all the stuff that you did in this life, and your eternal souls is judged on that.
