This is very true, and Safecat has the answer. Allow me to teach you how to shed unwanted followers and become once again the monad you were meant to be.
the complete lack of user control over being added to starter packs is a problem
a large following is tricky enough if you've been acclimated, I can't imagine suddenly waking up with thousands of new followers and all the bullshit that comes with it totally out of the blue

My experience of using bluesky got remarkably worse after being added to a bunch of starter packs and having my follower account increase by 10x within a week. I’m no longer having any fun actually interacting with people on this site, and every interaction is plagued with a tail of other bad ones.

As a rule I listen to stuff on crappy laptop speakers, or in places where other things are going on, so when I occasionally listen to stuff on headphones I grow angry about how listening to stuff on crap speakers limits what I can enjoy. Then I keep doing it. That's the Safecat Difference.
