Sandcastle Siege creator Aydın Polat explains how a three-person team turned a memory of a beach shooter into a toy-filled mobile defense game, rethinking its camera, bosses, artwork and ads.

Every day, children come to the shore and build a little sandcastle with their hands, filling it with shells, towers, and imagination. Before they leave, they place a small doll beside it and go home, leaving her behind. But when the children leave and the beach becomes quiet, something magical happens. The little doll comes to life and transforms into a human princess. Every night, she stands beside the sandcastle and looks out at the sea, watching the waves and dreaming of becoming a mermaid. She longs to enter the water and become part of the world beyond the shore.
