the first fully automated self-satirising culture

whatever cunning satirical takedown you've thought of, they've already done it and have probably generated at least a cottage industry out of it

From Hogarth's famous "election" series satirising C18 election corruption, see: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Humours...

Hogarth would be in his element with current US politics.

You've broken the first rule of satirising bad writing. Yours is too well written.

Jesus Christ why is every young person sporting a mullet? Didn’t we spend the past three decades ridiculing and satirising it into oblivion?? HAVE WE LEARNED NOTHING?! WHYYYY

Slowly realising Badenoch is one of my favourite political figures ever: sold to us as a firebrand truth teller but is instead an amusing and self satirising mix of arrogance and vulnerability. To be clear she'd make an awful PM but a brilliant character in a comic novel.
On the Today programme, Kemi Badenoch tells Emma Barnett: “You are asking questions that are changing the very focus of what it is I’m talking about.”

Yes, that’s how interviews work.

This is particularly interesting considering the fact that Will Stancil is EXACTLY the kind of person the Onion would be satirising.
btw, @whstancil.bsky.social and I have kissed and made up. We're all gonna have to if we wanna get out of this mess.

Also word to the wise: apparently don't shipost about data centers in the one free hour you've accumulated this week.

Your honour, I was actually *satirising* crime.

And this includes anything ‘dunking’ on it, ‘satirising’ it, or ‘can you tell the difference?’ pieces.

They’re all ways to get you to engage with generative Ai.
You know the best way to kill AI? Don't use it. Don't buy it. Don't share it. Don't give the people who use it your labour or your money.

Okay this wins it

(Before anyone replies, he is satirising tankies)
This is what happens when you recklessly extend BRICS right up to America’s borders and ignore America’s legitimate security concerns.

The best parodies always come from a place of love in my humble opinion, and I think to really nail something there has to be an appreciation and understanding of what it is you're satirising otherwise it misses the mark, that's how you end up with a Scary Movie.

In what way is it satirising that

I think "satirising media that no longer exists" is also a big part of why the Onion isn't funny now.

Tylor (1993-1996) is still an enjoyable watch, satirising space opera and sci-fi tropes without lapsing into toooo much parody.

There are some nice Bluray releases of it with physical goodies, one of them from All The Anime.

That is what satire is otherwise you’re not satirising anything and it’s not satire it’s just a bunch of stuff you said

And then there was the time Frank Frazetta drew a Judge Dredd cover, albeit the one for Mad magazine #338 satirising the 1995 Sylvester Stallone JD movie.

Satirising a bad thing is not an evil act. It's how satire is meant to work.
