Proponents of “body-mind” theories will usually defend themselves by saying that they think ME is a real illness and not purely psychological. And that’s exactly what the doctors starving Savannah are saying.

Unfettered medical barbarism is hardly a thing of the past, although plenty prefer to delude themselves into believing it is. It’s not uncommon for ME patients to be medically tortured to death in hospital settings. See post below for further elaboration and email template details. ⬇️

Even a hospital with a 'severe ME admission pathway' doesn't really seem to know how to care for people with (very) severe ME. 😫

There needs to be a specialist service commissioned NOW.

We've finally managed to post an update after two months. Delay partly due to strong hints that too much honesty would affect her care; and partly because Sam has had to push way too much to try and protect Savannah from their BS.

Exactly one mention of "severe" in a sub sub bullet while one of us hasn't eaten in 9 weeks under NHS care.

Savannah has left QEH with Sonya Chowdhury and will be presenting to St Thomas A&E shortly. We have advocate cover til late this evening, hopefully she will be admitted by then. Please keep your fingers crossed

"Thank you for your ongoing support for Savannah. Today again we are calling on the community for help. In the absence of any national database of safe doctors for pwSevereME, we want to hear from you if you could make any hospital recommendations for the (Very) Severe, ideally with a bed Savannah could be transferred to. Primarily in the UK but since we're not sure if this even exists here, we're also open to recommendations in nearby countries. For instance, a German hospital gave Dutch pwVerySevereME Sanne TPN and we will be reaching out to her team. Open to suggestions for NHS and private doctors alike. If you know of anywhere, please fill in this very short form: https://tally.so/r/81KxGO. QR code with the link attached too. We have thought long and hard about this, as there is a huge inherent risk in such a move for even further deterioration, but Savannah feels we have to consider all options to get her out of QEH before they kill her. To be clear: we are not asking for “miracle” doctors, ones with wild “cures” or alternative treatments. We're simply asking for doctors who acknowledge the physical causes of ME and won't try to psychologise her. We know what medication keeps Savannah alive. We just need to find a safe bed with a safe consultant who will reinstate those meds (both her IV Cyclizine and pain relief), and provide a stimulus-free environment for her to recover enough to have TPN installed."

An Open Letter to British Association for Clinicians in ME/CFS (BACME) in Response to the Document ‘Guide to Therapy’, 2025.

Summary The document represents a failure to move forward to an evidence-based approach to an illness that is recognised as being long term for many people and, at present, of unknown mechanism. It appears to serve interests of BACME members rather than patients and from our perspective involves a deception that can only perpetuate the lack of trust ME/CFS patients have in the healthcare system. Until now policy has been unclear. This document makes it plain that nothing with any evidence base is on offer and that there is no justification for continuing to commission services based on the proposed model. With limited resources, we believe the focus must be on medical care of severe and very severe cases, including nutrition and other life support, to reduce unnecessary deaths. The lack of a specialist medical 'home' with a research base has halted progress in knowledge and care in ME/CFS. This neglect cannot continue to be tolerated. Continuing current provision without medical leadership will not result in improved outcomes for patients. Filling the vacuum with well-intentioned, but ineffective 'therapies' is a poor use of resources and therapists’ time.

Thanks to The Times for highlighting Savannah’s story and the critical issue that there is no specialist NHS service for very severe ME. Grateful to Ashley Dalton for our recent brief call but still waiting for progress report re ME Plan commitment to explore such a service, including treatments.

TW: Update on Savannah via GoFundMe: Donations have now funded legal action. Sonya Chowdhury (CEO Action for ME) has briefed a solicitor as well as Savannah’s MP. I’ve donated again.

Also includes a diary style update of her experience in hospital.
