NEW: Two days after the Fifth Circuit blocked enforcement of Texas SB4, members of the Texas National Guard were threatening migrants with arrest and deportation under SB4, according to multiple migrants and a Houston Chronicle reporter who overheard one exchange.
The courts blocked SB4. Texas soldiers threatened to deport migrants under it anyway.
Texas National Guardsmen were seen threatening migrants attempting to cross the border under SB4, despite the state not having any power to do so.

After a Senate subcommittee recommended reporting/referring my bill SB4 for universal free school breakfast by a 5-0 vote last week, a House of Delegates subcommittee just voted 10-0 to do the same for Del. @ebpforva.bsky.social’s companion bill HB96. Great start to session for feeding hungry kids!

“Pastor Dan” is a well-known figure around the Capitol, and recited to me w/ enthusiasm how he has been persecuted and assaulted before but only now able to press charges. The state troopers that arrested the anti-SB4 citizen did not seem particularly enthusiastic about it.
