For me, it is *not* depressing that "the sector" has failed to substantively moved on (we've had major interventions -- Chris was involved with Limn, ROAC, etc., and ScholarLed, @copim.bsky.social, OBC etc. to some extent, have really built from such genealogical understandings of open publishing.)

This is fairly similar to how we experimented with Quarto as part of a computational publishing workflow on @copim.bsky.social and it's great to see this kind of computational book being published and great that Edinburgh Diamond can provide a space for non-traditional monographs.

I am reviewing flavoursofopen.science/lost-in-tran... (by Toby Steiner of @thoth-metadata.eurosky.social). This linguistic-to-political drift in approaches to and conceptions of diverse forms of OA is, for me, deeply unhelpful.

Scholar-led & community-led approaches vary politically, technologically, & economically. However, they are not in competition, and interoperate well to scale small (ROAC, FJN, ScholarLed, OBC, etc.) This builds trust, limits extraction, & shows the value of the labour in pursuit of shared values.
