#sciTwitter
#SciTwitter is dead, all hail #Bluesky #SciSky! Here are the stats for my Twitter (red) and Bluesky (blue) followers in the last 3.5 months.

SciTwitter back then and SciBsky now literally exist to criticize the NIH.
Here is Thompson on what he thinks the ‘establishment’ approach was pre-2025: “You cannot criticize [NIH]; you cannot touch [NIH]. [NIH] exists on a kind of spectral plane that we simply cannot broker any criticism of.”

This is unmoored from reality.

We didn't criticize NIH?

Really?

All those moments lost in time, like scitwitter tweets on X

The comment thread feels like ol' SciTwitter again 🥰😆

Scitwitter is back, baby. Conferences: weekday or weekend? Let's go!
One complaint about #AHA24 is that it is on a weekend…

People more willing to flex on their family/free time vs. their clinical/work time to attend

Instead of #SciTwitter, we are officially in the #SciSky!

Especially with the new influx, I have to agree. This feels like 2020 SciTwitter again!
The engagement system on this platform feels like old Twitter. My timeline is nothing but positive messages, games, animals, and creative works. All of my posts are exploding with positive replies.

Not going back.
This rocks.

Is this now happening for real?
Are we acknowledging that SciTwitter transitions to BlueSci?!? 🤩 #bluesci #migration

Ok, not reply department email, but it reminds me of the time several people got vacuum sealed mice in orders of plastic wear (that the did not order). Ahh, the good times of SciTwitter
Today's winning Biology All email--in fact this is a contender for best this year

Noone ever complain again that Bluesky is less then the old Scitwitter days. Sometimes it just takes longer to get there. This thread is one month old, but worth every second. #Noodlococcus and #bluesoup vibes. @contamclub.bsky.social
Made a cocktail for my wife and she put it in the freezer, inadvertently creating a new superorganism please hel—*glurk*

i'll semi-frequently see post from the "scitwitter community" that's like "does anyone else feel like scitwitter is kinda dead now? what happened?" and then scroll up a bit and see a post from a paid bluecheck account that's like "it's time we apologise to Adolf Hitler"

Kind of weird to think that as shitty as the pandemic happening was, it was the reason I got on SciTwitter (to connect with folks during our least connected time) and that's why I know so many of you.

I follow several academic pages on Facebook and it is wiiilllllddddddd how different the culture is there versus on here or what used to be SciTwitter. So much cutthroat gatekeeping and unwillingness to have minds changed.

Well this will go down in the books as top 10 best advice I've gotten on SciTwitter/Sky.
The native barcoding kit gives more flexibility - do whatever pcr you want and then the nanopore library prep and barcoding is pcr-free. We got this advice from the nanopore rep when we were choosing kits and because we wanted to do 18s too. But I do think adjusting cycle number willl work.

Delighted to see this replacing #SciTwitter. But where is Epigenetic Hulk?
November 14, 2024 at 5:25 AM
100% this! SciTwitter was an amazing place at one time. Happy to have a place to rebuild but wish it wasn’t necessary.
The thing that made my Twitter account valuable was not the sheer number of people who followed me. It was *who* was in my network.

That was an amazing time, and it taught me that the best way to use social media was to find interesting people and follow who they followed.

Hi BlueSky — I’m bringing over an old SciTwitter thread series exploring how beautifully the vestibular system works from a systems and computational neuroscience perspective.

Chapter 1 coming shortly! I’ll keep all chapters threaded below.

A scitwitter character metood a bunch of assholes, got unmasked as a monster, got rehabilitated by their pretend-indian sock puppet, who they fake married then killed off with COVID and tried to collect money for their funeral.

Seems almost quaint now.

Hello Bsky! It's been long overdue - looking forward to reconnecting with the SciTwitter crowd.

Seeing all the long-dormant scitwitter folks return to life here on BlueSky
November 13, 2024 at 11:55 AM
Is scitwitter here? Where are my peeps? I am not ok
November 7, 2024 at 12:16 AM
I like BlueSky too but it's not twitter, not even SciTwitter. there are whole communities missing and you see it in the limited conversations that happen here
