we have both computers and science fiction because Byron was so insufferable it inspired all the women around him to come up with elaborate reasons to get away
Ok folks: what is your favorite fact that you share with people (maybe a bit too) eagerly?

⚠️ Chinese researchers have invented bone glue that mimics how oysters stick to surfaces underwater.

The adhesive can reportedly repair orthopedic fractures in 2-3 minutes, even in blood-rich environments, and is bioabsorbable.

Inspired by @jtuttlekeane.bsky.social and @ohdearz.bsky.social, here's what the White House proposed budget cuts to NASA would do to the entirety of the agency's Science Mission Directorate.

Bloodbath is right.

If you’ve been moved & inspired by Artemis, NASA needs your help. Literally during A2, the president proposed cutting NASA science 47%, canceling 54 missions, including many already in-flight. To help stop these cuts, check out @planetarysociety.bsky.social www.planetary.org/save-nasa-sc...

Some people think science is just for nerds, but science is the foundation of the modern world and science is what made America great.

Even though many of us don’t work directly in space science, we were inspired to become scientists by NASA. Destroying it makes zero sense.

What? No, its about dipshit rich techbros misunderstanding cautionary tales from science fiction, instead getting inspired to create the very thing the work was cautioning against!

Many of us who don’t work on space science directly were inspired to become scientists because of NASA. Also, about 30% of NASA's science budget is for Earth and climate science, and they run one of the global climate models that's used by the IPCC. What happens at NASA will affect all of us.

This too is Science.

Just reminded of the "Scully Effect" - that girls who watched the X-files were more likely to pursue careers in science- but this ignores the bigger "Mulder Effect" which inspired a whole generation of young men to become socially awkward porn addicted conspiracy theorists.

jrpgs were inspired by shonen jump manga, which was in turn inspired by tokusatsu, which was inspired by pulp sci-fi/fantasy novels, which were inspired by history and science, which were inspired by a desire to prevent death. if you like jrpgs you have to live. okay?

The summary is, these motherfuckers never understood the science fiction that THEY say inspired them in the first place.

Inspired by Vietnam-era activism, Stand Up For Science is hosting a series of teach-ins around the USA this summer, focusing on the importance of science and science funding. I’m doing one May 30th in Silver Spring. Many of you should consider doing one too, and I’m happy to help you plan it 🦑🧪🌎

Many of us don’t work directly in space science, but we were inspired to become scientists by NASA. Today was an inspirational day, and I hope Artemis II galvanizes the public to recognize the importance of having a strong science program for our identity, not to mention our security and prosperity.

Welcome new Bluesky people!

Hi, I’m Laci! I have a PhD in planetary science, but I decided to leave academia to create my own path—communicating science through art & selling paintings full time. I post about astronomy, weather, share science-inspired paintings, & chat about my life. ✨
