Plain & simple filthy twitching yes, but 3 hours spent this afternoon on St Agnes Scillies was definitely worth it #islesofscilly #stagnes

Ooooh! Someone in our dive party spotted one of those in the Scillies a couple of years ago!

That looks a lot larger than I was expecting!

Scillies day 3. Stayed on St Mary’s; the highlights were the subalpine warbler, glossy ibis, 2 turtle dove, and a short-eared owl (not in a pear tree).

Indicative of what proportion of birds are missed on Scillies that a pigeon could basically evade detection in the 1.48 km2 of St Agnes despite lots of people looking #UKBirding
American Mourning Dove finally in the bag!!! 3 days of searching put to rest. Tiny little thing. #UKBirding #RareBirdsUK #IoSBirding #IslesofScillyBirding @sophieshrike.bsky.social

Scillies day 2. Got a boat over to St Agnes and Gugh; saw the upland sandpiper and red-backed shrike, plus a lesser emperor dragonfly. Then back on St Mary’s saw 9 cattle egret and a firecrest.

A slightly better shot of the Mourning Dove yesterday on St Agnes. Thanks to the landowner and birders for allowing and arranging access. This was not only a first for the Scillies but also a first for England! #UKBirding #RareBirdsUK #IoSBirding #IslesofScillyBirding

An anniversary treat took us to the Scillies today. They really are a different world - a stunningly different world.

Isabelline Wheatear at Land's End airport is a good start to my first ever trip to the Scillies!

Well it wasn't meant to be with the Scarlet Tanager in Shelf. This Sparrowhawk didn't help our chances! All the more painful after missing one on the Scillies in 2011. The wait continues... #RareBirdsUK #UKBirding 🪶

Good numbers of Stormies off the Scillies, but still low numbers of the large Shearwaters
This eve’s pelagic visited Pol Bank, 5 kms SW of Bishop Rock, wind F3 NW. European Stormies were abundant with on avg 4-6 birds arriving per min, 50-80 at one time in the slick, total c500, plus 11 Wilson’s. Large shears again modest: 12 Great, 3 Cory’s, 1 Sooty. One Arctic Skua. #seabirds

A beautiful first day on Scillies. High hopes for the next few days but Lesserlegs, large shearwaters and beautiful scenery eased us in nicely. @beardybirder.bsky.social #ScillyBirding #UKBirding
