In case any recent arrivals are wondering what happened to my long-standing Twitter avatar, here’s why I changed it.
Imagine a day when people in the UK can talk about the EU without even mentioning immigration.

Today is not that day.

A small group of MPs, MEPs, and journalists tried so hard to get the police to investigate this *before* we left the EU

Serious failure by the government, the security services, and the police allowed Brexit to go ahead and Putin to rub his hands with glee

I feel I don’t say it enough: this is truly a fantastic, welcome, long overdue change in tone, and more than just a change in tone. Yes yes it’s still [waves hands expressively] but my God it has been a long 15 years so let’s be thankful we’re finally heading in the right direction on this.

Robert Runcie and Rowan Williams rewiring a house together is an image I needed this Monday morn
My parents' house was rewired by 2 Anglican archbishops, & it may only have been the grace of god that kept it from burning down, according to the real electrician who worked on it next. It had been a *long* time since their graces had worked on building sites to pay their way through seminary.

Why did five prime ministers leave voters in the dark about Russian interference?

Theresa May
Boris Johnson
Liz Truss
Rishi Sunak
Keir Starmer

Shame on all of them.

Congratulations to Sagal. I wish her the very best in representing this amazing place.

I'm proud of the campaign we fought. To go from 10% to 33% of the vote share during the PM's 'bounce' is good - but our ambitions are far higher.

Rescuers worked at the site of the Russian strike in Pryluky all night and day. Russia killed 22 people here for Putin's birthday, 5 of them were children.

They celebrate like this, crashing apartment buildings onto sleeping residents.

search and rescue operation continues.

My mother -- otherwise very polite and cultured, a Green-voting Christian -- never called the man Schröder.

She always said "Schröder that political whore".

I was puzzled back then, he was the centre-left, modern, reformist hero of the late 1990s. I was 18.

Mothers. Always right.
Today, a Russian strike on Pryluky 🇺🇦 killed at least 19 people, incl. 5 children.

Same day, in Moscow, ex-🇩🇪 Chancellor Gerhard Schröder told staff of the Russian hypermarket chain whose board he just joined: "I'm very happy to be here... and to meet you, my wonderful colleagues."

Being pro-the UK joining the EU and being pro-EU are not the same thing.

The challenge for UK leaders is to turn the former shallow preference of the population into the latter deeper sentiment & belief.

Then the UK can convince the rest of Europe that it would be a force for the good of the EU.

Pleased to report that my page is a) basic b) largely impersonal and c) wrong. Still creepy as shit, though.
Launched in May, “the page uses data from customers’ activity to generate details about them in categories like Product Preferences, Interests & Hobbies, and Home & Family, which Amazon then uses to personalize users’ product experiences.”
'Has flat buttocks,' 'cusses when scared': Amazon keeps shockingly specific customer profiles. Here's how to find yours
Amazon's new 'About you' page lists many assumptions about shoppers—like their favorite brands, their hobbies, and the shape of their bodies.
