#scoldiness
Given the pile-ons and general scoldiness that occurs in the absence of an algorithm, certain websites are demonstrating your point quite nicely

Yeah, we have some of that scoldiness here but nowhere near the same as "YOU NEED A CONTENT WARNING ON ANY MENTION OF FOOD EVER"

That was the weirdest scoldiness from that dude.

Never forget that the United States was founded by Protestants too extreme for Europe and the weird Puritan values and scoldiness have been proudly passed down to today’s Americans.

His scoldiness stinks of course, but I think his premise is largely correct.

No see this would be fun. The issue is this place has the scoldiness of early Tumblr but everyone's a gen xer who associates radical politics with that time they felt scammed by Obama's primary campaign

I think people who care about the planet and the climate should try to eat less beef, but I also try really hard not to sound scoldy or preachy about it. I save my scoldiness and preachiness for infuriating shit like this:

A staggering 96 private jets are expected to fly in for Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s wedding – Supercar Blondie
Almost 100 private jets are expected to touchdown in Venice, Italy, this week for the wedding of billionaire Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez

What killed Mastodon for me was the lack of curation / algorithm /the scoldiness / and the endless debates and constant foot dragging about quote posts. Twitter was often enraging, but also could be fun. Mastodon feels too much like work.

Also, BlueSky has no ads *yet*

These aren’t controversial opinions. I have friends over there who judged me for leaving & I also perceived the scoldiness here firsthand. I’ve just had a better experience on this site then I was over there a year ago. And I just try to bring the energy here that I would want to be received with.

I am not criticizing Bluesky for that at all. As I wrote, most people here do not like that stuff! It seems like it's part of the site's rep elsewhere on the internet, even though many many people here (a clear majority that I've seen) think that kind of scoldiness is ridiculous

I bought a condo in Los Angeles at the height of the “you can’t say [whatever] anymore, you know” moment of progressive scoldiness, and I feel like I saw it on occasion but not oppressively?

I've been thinking about this lately, and I imagine stuff like that lands poorly (sometimes) thanks to the really terrible pointless scoldiness that happens Online. Big accounts have gotta get more of this than anyone. I bet they get allergic to ordinary pushback. Sigh. No good solutions.

The scoldiness of the people in this article (you can’t drink too many sugar free drinks!) is hilarious

It’s not restricted to folks far left of center, it’s a universal paralysis of scoldiness over action or activism. Social media has Jedi mind tricked a huge swath of people’s social energy into pointless recriminations. It’s fine to disagree vehemently, but get on with it and stump for your way

*I wouldn't harass or ignore blind people, I'm my 70s and I had cataract surgery

*And I needed it

*But everybody on or off Mastodon knows that's by no means the limit of Mastodon's deep inherent scoldiness

*It's a Sleeping Beauty castle sheltered by the thicket of thorns

I tried to engage in good faith with your post below, in hopes of getting past its patronizing scoldiness. We had some brief actual dialogue, then you got rude: "thanks for the lecture." I gave it right back, and that set you off, so you've tried to engineer a pile-on. bsky.app/profile/leon...
Who has to suffer, and how close does their proximity to your comfort zone have to get, before you start thinking of how to shut down the machine instead of helping pick the lubricant for it that contains the least amount of blood? I’m worried that if it’s not now, it’s never, and that really sucks.

When I went to see if "scoldiness" was a word, I bumped into a paper on some incidents on Mastodon: firstmonday.org/ojs/index.ph...
Oddly, I found out early that some Fediverse users screen out posts with "too many" hashtags. 😂 #Mastodon #Fediverse #Asstodon #Commodon #scoldiness

I don't think it necessarily sucks, but there's an atmosphere of — I don't know — scoldiness? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

interesting

we’ll see how his angry scoldiness plays with them once they see more of him

After having a look, it seems she feels perfectly ok with herself and has not acknowledged her scoldiness. At least on her Bluesky account.

Good.

One less bell to answer/egg to fry/reporter to believe. 🤷‍♂️
