WTH is he trying to say? In a world where I have to support either Jeff or JKR, I am already likely scrod. In this one, I don't have to support either, and one is dead. I can choose the lesser of two evils (my governor?) but I have no reason to choose evil here at all, and it's better not to do so.

Not a historian here, but as a former professional writer and editor...the heartbreak of getting scrod by clients--including but not limited to large and reputable ones--seemed to be a common factor with everyone in the role. Sympathies. :/
