It is! Sorry I forgot to mention that fun fact.

Though some species also do the eaten by animals to be pooped out elsewhere just like land plants, though with turtles and fish as well as birds. Fun diversity in just ~60 species.

"It's one of the most unsustainable industries in the world, there's no doubt about it" said Frederik, a sustainability student from a yacht-owning family, gesturing at the port with a flute of champagne. "You've got here maybe three boats in total that are really trying to reduce their impact on the environment." He said his family had shrunk their yacht fleet down to two big boats, put solar panels and electric batteries on them and stopped dropping heavy anchors in areas with fragile seagrass that suck up carbon. "You need to make sure you're having less of an impact every time that you use it.”

Proof that the pattern wasn't intentional. I was a bit miffed by how many penguin submissions didn't really play with the spear-like bills these animals had at the time. For some extra flavor I also played with the position display feathers, giving it a beard instead of eyebrows

In 2021, a study reported that seagrasses in the Mediterranean were trapping plastic waste. They were billed as an ally in the fight against marine plastic pollution, but that hopeful narrative only tells part of the story.
