reintroduction

Hi I'm Ligus,

I'm a traditional artist from Berlin.
#SundayFishSketch made me start painting again and I fell in love with fish and marine biology.
I'm also trying to boost other #sciart .
Sometimes there will be some dog and crow posts ;)

#SciArtSeptember 10: Woad

Convergent evolution can produce similar body shapes from different starting points, when animals adapt to the same ways of life independently. These are four iterations of otter: a true otter, rakali or water rat, otter civet, and giant otter shrew, related to tenrecs.

#sciart very inspiring
Rebecca Howard, painting changes to land management - even (especially?) where that involves woody decay. Huge, immersive canvasses here exploring the shifted aesthetics of rewilded landscapes - I've wanted to visit Knepp for years, and would love to see this exhib. Good time to go! #GoodGreenNews

It is so rare to see this kind of fish paleo art 🎉🐡.

Makes me want to create some too ... but breathing life into fish fossiles is scary 🫠

✨️ My first exhibition ever ✨️

Exhibiting my sciart has been a (very very) far dream but it actually happened!! And what a chance to bring some biodiversity into the train station of Zurich!! Was pretty impressive but I feel very lucky 🤭

SwissArtExpo ends tomorrow!

I’m back! My first new piece since my daughter was born!

This one is all about chitosan: a versatile biopolymer derived from chitin found in crustacean shells, including lobster. The structures represent 90% deacetylation. Used in everything from packaging to drug delivery #sciart

Fab 1st day @royentsoc.bsky.social #Ento26, so busy, and I had such interesting chats with people about their research, & heard some fascinating presentations at the symposiums

I loved teaching my insect drawing workshop, & was lucky enough to sell some originals and prints too.

Come and say hi!

September 7 is Threatened Species Day in Australia so I thought I would share this hard-carved and hand-printed linocut print of a little semi-transparent, white amphipod crustacean in the Neoniphargidae group from the Pilbara. 🧪🐡 This is a large, dry, sparsely populated region in northern part of

Same issue here ... at least something is happening about a EU restriction ( www.face.eu/2026/07/euro... )
I'm not against hunting but lead bullets should have been forbitten ages ago.
Happy International Vulture Awareness Day!! ☠️ The California Condor population is about 607. It’s not because they are being shot but because they get lead poisoning from eating bullets in their scavenged meals.

Every illustration in Pterosaurs: The Field Guide was painted by humans. Every word was written by Pete Buchholz. No generative AI, and none ever.

If you've seen AI paleoart, you already know the difference.

Out on the RV Tom Crean and had a bit of a landmark day. Technically not my first angler, but this extraordinary, beautiful animal made me genuinely emotional. It’s an absolute privilege to get to meet these animals that I’ve adored for so long!
