The plover parents are guarding the chicks — flying after gulls that get too close, for example. I think the plover in most of the shots in this video is the mom, Searocket.

I know it's not a great photo, but we managed to spot 2 piping plovers at illinois Beach State Park in Zion today! Maybe the Montrose Beach chick of Imani and Searocket, and its cousin from Waukegan?

Yes, I am in a good mood this week because I invest too much of my emotional energy in the piping plovers that live on Montrose Beach in Chicago and two of them (Imani and Sea Rocket) are nesting and it’s wonderful.

I’m at a bird sanctuary in Chicago and there is a piping plover who nests here named Searocket. I’m not a dedicated birder, but this is spectacular.
