Those who know me well are familiar with my affection for snouty friends, like Secodontosaurus. A relative of Dimetrodon, Secodontosaurus also had a sail - and was more closely related to us mammals than reptiles. 🧪

Last Saturday I had the opportunity to visit the Whiteside Museum of Natural History and observe the AMAZING collection of Permian fossils they have that includes beautiful Dimetrodon and Diplocaulus individuals

Favorite Triassic Synapsid: Secodontosaurus

Secodontosaurus es un género de pelicosaurios extintos pertenecientes a la familia Sphenacodontidae, que vivió en lo que ahora es Texas (Estados Unidos) durante el Pérmico Inferior. Se cree que tenía la misma forma corporal que los demás esfenacodontidos.
