Would Hegel's self-criticism be wrong or right?

The Times has never had less direct legacy competition after Bezos smashed the Post, and it has responded by becoming almost unbelievably thin-skinned as an institution, full of self-righteous arrogance and hostility to well-earned criticism.

Awesome.

I honestly do think a lot of mainstream pundits and editors would rather engage with bad faith criticism from the right than good faith criticism from the left because only one of those requires self-reflection and change to address.

The biggest problem as an engineer is not just that they convince other people but also that they convince you. The LLM is a narrative machine and your prompts can easily drive it to a predetermined conclusion. The skill you need now is reflection and self-criticism.

Idk I think self criticism is essential to growth and understanding things outside oneself? Hmmm

on a scale of withering self-criticism, weightlifters are at the bottom and runners are at the top, cyclists don't even show up on the scale (derogatory)

when people say "we need gatekeepers" i get a little nervous because that could mean a billion different things. i don't necessarily trust most self-appointed gatekeepers to center the most interesting and consequential things. but both curation and criticism should matter way more than they do.

Those self-criticism sessions are right up my alley as a latent masochist.

People in the indie ttrpg and self pub scene have been complaining about itch.io for years, wild to see people treating the recent criticism as something new and out of pocket.

Also @rpgtrader.com banned AI content and seem to be doing well enough so like skill issue I guess.

Chapter 27, Criticism and Self Criticism
October 30, 2026 at 6:08 PM
Criticism of her actual actions. Things she’s done. Is self righteous? You’re blinded and foolish.

If despair is counterrevolutionary I better start writing my self criticism its gonna take a while

These assholes are playing right into Trump's antisemitic tropes about dual loyalty and putting themselves at far more risk than Sayed, Mamdani, etc ever would with their Israeli criticism. They're enabling the groypers, neo-Nazis, etc. Astonishing lack of self-awareness AND self-preservation.

also one criticism i recently saw was calling an artist too "self-indulgent".... 😭😭😭 self-indulgence is half the fun of being an artist, bud. 😭😭😭

I think one of the weirdest parts about the “abuser Stolas” discourse is that they frame it as an accident by writers who simply lack the self-awareness to realize it. It’s just an insult to their intelligence masked as criticism.

I made them hash browns. Was a lot of fun. Got some self criticism on it I'll reapply when I make em again this weekend. Test kitchen stuff.

Is there a brand of therapy that is proven to work with [check notes] argumentative neurodivergent assholes terrified of self-criticism, with a deep trauma only rivaled by their deep knowledge of Psychology at their disposal? (a.k.a. Certain brand of Philosopher of Mind)

Not even fucking joking that this was in my inbox today lmao

A smug self-regard so colossal that no criticism can penetrate. It's a Dunning-Kruger variant.

Someone asked me about illustrating in novels.

Many people have some sketching skills but many do not think they are 'good enough' for placement in a novel. You are likely wrong. Author drawings are very interesting to readers. Put aside your self criticism.

like honestly im still peeved about the fact people don't really care about the opinion of someone who has cultural ties with the expac much less enjoys it has rightful criticism of it. there's no nuance and a huge lack of self -thinking.

And when you interpret that difficulty as a lack of discipline or willpower, you add frustration and self-criticism to an already challenging situation.

Made me think of an erotic version of a North Vietnamese self-criticism/effectively confession session I read about in a NLF doctor’s diary.

I mean obviously, don't do death threats against anyone, and out of pure self interest especially members of Congress.

HOWEVER, this is still quite amusing.
