This is a very rare Silvertone 1358 (Danelectro model: U1), "peanut" (smaller body), single cutaway electric guitar. It is a semihollowbody, solid-center, Masonite over pine construction with a coral lacquer finish, and white vinyl binding. It has one lipstick tube pickup, a four way adjustable aluminum bridge with a Brazilian rosewood saddle. The guitar has a metal nut, a clear plastic pickguard, a Coke-bottle headstock, two white plastic knobs, and original white plastic strap buttons. It was made by Danelectro in Neptune, New Jersey in 1955 and it is in good playing and collecting condition especially for an axe that is over seventy years old! The neck is straight with nice fast action and the pickups are as clear and potent as they have ever been. The guitar is 100% original and it comes in a rare coral color.Description from VintageSilvertones.com

The original version of “Anne Marie” is the uptempo arrangement on my record “Wild Heart,” but I started doing this laid back version with my trio quite a few years ago. I think I prefer playing it this way. #gibson335 #semihollowbody #guitarist #singer #gibsonguitar

The Epiphone 335, Sire Larry Carlton S7, and Ibanez Artcore Expressionist - Which would we keep?
In this episode, we compare the three 335 style guitars we have been demoing to decide which one is the keeper. Unfortunately, we have to send all three back...

Now, fifteen years ago I bought these and started modding the 335 with different pickups and an onboard EQ/Boost but the smaller of the two guitars sounds so good stock that I am returning the 335 to stock also. These are both Ibanez Artcore Customs from 2007:
Two guitars hanging on a wall. The one on the left is an ES335 style semihollowbody and the one on the right is more of a PRS semihollowbody shape. The guitars have identical finishes and identical hardware, pickups, and fret dressing, which is fantastic. Full frontal and full reverse shots of the second guitar, the model is the Ibanez AWD102NT which is not sexy at all. Frontal view of the ES335-type model, the Ibanez AS103NT. It’s finish is natural but the buffing of the surface has brought out the odd horizontal striping, which is actually perpendicular to the grain.

These are coming up on 20 years old, made in China for Ibanez, and really good quality. In 2006 they each cost $600 new, plus another $100 for its case. Excellent PAF pickups and standard wiring (volume and tone).
Two semihollowbody electric guitars made in China for the Ibanez Artcore Custom series. They share many features, including: two PAF-style humbuckers with standard volume/tone wiring (no split coil switches or other modifications*); Each tailpiece has micro tuners; the neck construction and fretwork are outstanding and 24-3/4” scale on each (I believe it’s a 12” radius, exactly like the Ibanez Artist spec and standard Les Paul-style). Each guitar has the same natural finish that shows nice tight graining across all the surfaces. The fret markers are block abalone/MOP on the 335 and a unique design in the other. Each guitar is shown hanging next to the other on the wall of my house. Differences: The guitar on the left has a standard “ES-335” shape and size to it (think BB King/Chuck Berry). It’s model is AS103NT. The semi-holllow on the right has a Strat-sized body (double cut) and just a single volume and tone knob. Think Paul Reed Smith. * Wiring modified here. It is stock now.

My fear is that they will have a vintage Ibanez that I’ve been dreaming about for forty years sitting in their used stock, since back when the store was Brian Guitars and I traded in my Ibanez Rocket Roll Sr. Flying V. Maybe Brian never sold it! Maybe it’s waiting for me!
Ibanez Rocket Roll Senior Flying V guitar, model 2387-CT. A holy grail for many collectors. I’ve owned one twice and let it get away twice. Ibanez Artist semihollowbody model 2629, an ES335 shaped body, a dot ebony neck, chrome hardware, “Super 80” humbucker pickups (flying fingers design etched in the covers). A beauty of a guitar. Ibanez Professional 2671s, a set neck, Les Paul shaped body, ebony fretboard, block mother of pearl inlays, gold hardware, including Super 80/Flying Finger pickups, an ST Bridge, and a “Fancy” tailpiece. The body is bound but also has a German carve to the edge. The finish is a dark burst. Ibanez Musician MC900NT 4-string bass guitar with an ebony fretboard, natural ash finish, two excellent pickups with onboard overdrive and 3-band EQ also.

Nice Ibanez guitar there. I have two with that finish (NT, for “natural”). Mine were made in 2006. I bet George’s was made around that time too.
Two guitars hanging on a wall. On the left is the same style as a Gibson ES-335 (Chuck Berry’s guitar), an Ibanez AS-103NT. Next to it, also a semihollowbody, with a smaller body size, is an Ibanez AWD-102NT. The body is Strat sized. Bothe guitars are semi hollow and feature bound f holes. Both also have the same hardware (including a micro-adjustable bridge) in gold.

Of the three Ibanez guitars, the first one is the highest-end model, though they are all early Artcores (circa 2008 maybe?) so definitely aged a bit.

I have two Artcores from 2006 and I love them both.
My two Ibanez Artcore Custom semihollowbody guitars. Left to right, the model AS103NT (a 335 look alike in shape) and then the AWD102NT (a PRS semi hollow shape to it, a double cut, almost a Strat body shape).
