I have found a few shaggymanes growing out back, on the field.

Edible mushrooms are not my forte (though I wish they were), but I do know puffballs and shaggymanes.

Going to give them another day, maybe pick a couple tomorrow, fry them up in an omelet. Bet it's delicious!

Not morels. They are shaggymanes or shaggy inkcaps. The are delicious if you get them fresh. Before they start to deliquesce which they do quickly!

Well, should've grabbed those shaggymanes yesterday. Went out to grab one, but both I saw were already inky at the bottom, so no go. That's ok! That means hopefully I have more next year.

Did see another two popping out of the soil, though, so I may go grab one this evening if I can. That'll be it.

I don't muck about with mushrooms much, because yeah, there's very real danger there. I have my two I know for sure, and that's puffballs and shaggymanes, lol.

how so? I mean most mushrooms aren't grosser than anything else you pull out of the ground to eat, like tubers and plants and whatnot. shaggymanes, I'll grant you, are little horrors

Not an edible one, I think. We used to pick shaggymanes, puffballs, and boletes to eat when I lived in Yellowknife. Morels came out after wildfires.

I love mushrooms! I can only identify three edible types though…shaggymanes, boletes, and puffballs.
