2024 was an exceptionally calm year for shark bites, with only 47 unprovoked attacks recorded around the globe.

A 31-year-old male diver sustained non-life-threatening injuries after being bitten by a shark off Bruny Island, Tasmania. Recent shark attacks may be linked less to shark behaviour – and more to the pollutants, pesticides and parasites humans send into the ocean.
