I'm a bit of a pen nerd.
I wanted to be just like my dad, who wrote with a Parker 75 #fountainpen, so I started writing with #fountainpens from an early age. I think my first pen was a Sheaffer.

I don't think I have another fountain pen that writes as smoothly and has ink flow so perfect as my Sheaffer Crest 1750 piston filler dating from shortly after WWII. I've had this pen for 30 years but my repair efforts failed. I only recently found a someone who could fix it—and now it's perfect.

I hate to go too many days without a pen post. Here's an older photo of some of my absolute favorite writers. These early Sheaffer fountain pens date from the early 1920s through the mid-1930s, and the nibs are among the best ever made. These pens were built for writing and still do... regularly.

Then pen I have been reaching for a lot lately has been the Sheaffer VFM Coffee. It just feels really nice to write with, especially since I inked it with Pilot Iroshizuku ink.

For National Fountain Pen Day, my favorite is a Sheaffer Tuckaway in carmine red striated celluloid (circa 1940–44). I have hundreds of vintage fountain pens that I've restored, but I'm especially fond of Sheaffers. Isn't she a beauty? Writes like a dream!

Today’s fountain pen is a Sheaffer Imperial 440 with a fine nib, in blue. A fairly simple pen for a rather complicated time at work.
